Our Clock Software

When you work with clocks with "1 second in 1.8 million years" accuracy you become aware of the inaccuracy of many less sophisticated clocks. Did you know, for example, that even the most state-of-the-art personal computers could be worse at time keeping than a discount store wristwatch?

The reason is simple. The wristwatch has only one job to do and, with the commonly available and inexpensive quartz movements, it does that job very well. The computer, on the other hand, has many jobs to do even when idle. Each of the millions-per-second computer operations "steals" a bit of attention from the processor. Making the clock function "tick" is a fairly low priority processor task. Missed ticks and other factors cause errors of up to several seconds a day.

But, if you're as fanatical as we are about keeping time, you find a way to solve the problem.

The JägAir Institute of Time and Technology in association with the Mt. Airy Center for Creative Anachronism offers two computer programs that not only display digital clocks but also synchronize your computer's clock to the JägAir Institute's time servers with fraction of a second accuracy.

We offer this software without charge or obligation.
It is given to you "as is" without a warranty of any kind.
Sorry, MAC & Linux/Unix people, we only do Windows™ .
